Wayne Brothers, Inc. to do concrete work on the WFUBMC Pediatric Emergency Center

Wayne Brothers, Inc. to perform 20th  turnkey concrete project for Bovis Lend Lease with the Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (WFUBMC) Pediatric Emergency Center construction.

February 24, 2010, Kannapolis, NC — Wayne Brothers, Inc., located in Kannapolis, NC, is pleased to announce that the company has been awarded both cast-in-place concrete and grading scopes of work for the new WFUBMC  Pediatric Emergency Department. Bovis Lend Lease, Inc., located in Charlotte, NC is the Construction Manager for the project in Winston-Salem, NC.

The WFUBMC Pediatric Emergency Center will be the 20th project for which Wayne Brothers, Inc. has provided turnkey concrete services to Bovis Lend Lease, Inc.  Wayne Brothers, Inc. will construct the footings, retaining walls, columns, 29,000 square feet of concrete slab-on-grade, elevator pit, 5,525 square feet of elevated shored concrete slabs, 31,000 square feet of 2-inch thick reinforced concrete topping slab as well as excavation, asphalt paving, and general gradingactivities.  Chad Hensley will be the project manager overseeing construction for Wayne Brothers, Inc.

The WFUBMC Emergency Department currently sees in excess of 90,000 patients annually, 26.5% of those are pediatric emergencies. The Pediatric Emergency Department will be a 20,000 square foot facility, which will be built within the lower level of an existing parking deck. The facility will include 18 exam rooms, 2 trauma rooms and 4 treatment rooms. Construction is scheduled to begin in early March 2010. Wayne Brothers, Inc. will begin work in the second week in March and will be completed at the end of September 2010.
