Wayne Brothers Concrete group completed a unique project in Goose Creek, SC. This concrete foundation is the 2nd of its kind in the world; the first being in Norway. Through value-engineering Wayne Brothers was able to meet the demanding schedule and exceed quality requirements.
This unique structure will be used as a spool for high voltage cables to be spooled onto ships. The foundation is 150’ in diameter, with 4000cy of concrete and 292 tons of rebar. Some sections of this foundation required the use of extruded foam to meet the design requirements. This approach along with other form work practices reduced schedule duration.
Wayne Brothers was able to complete the foundation and walls in 45 days by utilizing single-sided form work, using no ties, and by using, what is internally called, Form Work Cycling.
This complicated project displays the high-level of execution consistently delivered. Wayne Brothers has been invited back for additional scopes of work.
