Scope of Work
Our team performed turnkey concrete construction for a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment facility designed to serve the growing communities of west Charlotte, Belmont, and Mount Holly, NC. Scope included cast-in-place mat foundations, shored slabs, slab-on-grade, retaining walls, geocell infills, and concrete paving. These elements supported key structures such as water retention basins, the Headworks building, and the generator building—all part of the region’s plan to improve wastewater recycling.
Unique Challenges
Over half of the concrete placed at the Headworks building qualified as mass concrete, triggering rigorous quality requirements. To address the high heat of hydration and avoid thermal cracking, we developed a preconstruction plan using thermal models and rigorous material testing—fully designed by our in-house engineering team. This proactive strategy allowed us to control placement temperatures, monitor curing, and meet stringent performance standards. This is how we ensure our work stands strong for decades to come.
