Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers was contracted to complete a 260,000 SF concrete replacement at the Harbor Freight Distribution Center in Dillon, SC. The scope included removal of 12 inches of existing asphalt, an additional 9 inches of subgrade excavation, and replacement with a soil cement base. This was followed by pouring a new 9-inch concrete slab, joint sealing, and restriping. The project was delivered as a turnkey solution with Design-Assist services provided by Southern Engineering Company, a Wayne Brothers company.
Unique Challenges
The work took place at a fully operational distribution center, which required detailed logistics planning and close coordination with the client. Only six loading dock doors could be taken offline at a time, and all truck routes had to remain functional throughout construction. These constraints made phasing, access management, and real-time communication critical to maintaining operations while completing the project safely and on schedule.
