Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers was awarded the early site and deep foundation package for the Charleston Airport Parking Garage. Our team coordinated critical path activities so the airport could open early parking spaces ahead of peak holiday travel in 2024. We performed early grading and sequenced auger cast piles to accelerate the concrete contractor’s schedule, ensuring turnover of parking areas on time. The site work scope included excavation, mass grading, paving, utilities, and the installation of three specialized underground tank systems: a fire foam tank, a sewer lift station with 1,000 LF of force main, and an oil/water separator for the car center.
Unique Challenges
The project demanded a fast-tracked schedule with multiple crews and weekend work to meet the airport’s critical deadlines. With operations occurring on an active 17.5-acre airport site, logistics required daily coordination with airport authority and local officials to avoid disrupting airport operations. Subsurface changes also called for innovative solutions—our in-house engineers delivered a cost- effective auger cast pile design that met both structural demands and schedule requirements.
