Scope of Work

Wayne Brothers was awarded the fermentation tank structure for a new brewery in Columbia, SC — one of the largest brewery builds in the U.S. in over 25 years. Our scope included constructing a cast-in-place tank structure within a tight 90-day window to keep the overall building schedule on track. The project featured a massive 48-inch mat slab foundation, cast-in-place concrete columns, an elevated concrete slab with custom tank openings, and the installation of process and utility piping for multiple production lines.

Unique Challenges

To meet the aggressive timeline, the mat slab foundation was poured continuously over 19 hours, placing 3,400 cubic yards of concrete in one operation. The upper structure, formed with Doka Staxo shoring and Dokamatic tables, was placed in a continuous 15-hour pour with 2,500 cubic yards of concrete and 650 tons of reinforcing steel. Coordinating the structural work alongside rigging equipment and installing process and utility piping for four can lines, one bottling line, and an R&D brewing system required precise scheduling and teamwork across multiple disciplines.
