Wayne Brothers Geostructural Solutions group designed and installed a temporary earth retention system as part of the Central Energy Plant addition at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The purpose of this temporary earth retention solution was to permit safe excavation for the installation of large hot and chilled water pipes. A soldier pile & lagging wall was selected due to the presence of known and unknown existing utilities and foreign objects. We providing value-engineering services of the existing earth retention system design to reduce potential constructability impacts and provide cost and schedule savings. Approximately 5,000 linear feet of wall was installed on this project.
