Wayne Brothers, Inc. (WBI) served as the concrete subcontractor for Gemma Power Systems (GPS) for the Construction of NTE Energy’s Kings Mountain Energy Center (KMEC) in Kings Mountain, NC. Located directly off of exit 5 on Interstate-85, this 475 Mega-Watt natural gas plant will generate power for approximately 400,000 homes. WBI began construction in May of 2016 and through February 2017 will have placed approximately 14,000 yards of concrete. WBI’s scope also included over 475 embeds/anchors, 82,000 square feet of place & finish, nearly 1,200 tons of rebar, precast concrete installation, cranes from 50 to 550-ton, multiple mass-concrete pours, cold-weather provisions, and walls over 34-feet tall placed in a single pour.
