Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers served as the Design-Build contractor for the Northlake Entrance Road project, delivering a fully coordinated sitework + utilities and concrete package. The scope included mass grading, asphalt paving, stormwater management, sanitary sewer, water line installation, segmental retaining walls (SRW), and structural concrete for foundations and cast in place walls. Additional features included installation of one corrugated metal pipe (CMP) bottomless culvert and one precast bottom culvert.
Unique Challenges
A major advantage on this project was the in-house collaboration between Wayne Brothers’ operations team and Southern Engineering Company. By integrating design and construction under one roof, we had seamless coordination throughout all phases. One solution involved avoiding costly shoring during excavation. Field teams identified a constructability issue early in the design process. Working together, the design team was able to engineer a shallower footing elevation that allowed for a 1.5:1 slope, eliminating the need for temporary shoring. This adjustment not only improved safety but also resulted in hundreds of thousands of dollars in cost savings.
