Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers delivered a high-performance automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) slab for Nestlé, designed to support a 100-foot-plus tall racking system that also carried the building roof loads. The scope included placement of an 86,000-square-foot, 2-foot-thick jointless concrete slab with extremely tight tolerance requirements. Wayne Brothers provided a delegated slab design using a proprietary steel fiber and rebar system, allowing the team to accelerate the schedule while eliminating conflicts associated with post-installed anchors.
Unique Challenges
This project demanded precision under pressure. Pouring restrictions limited all concrete placements to daytime hours only, which introduced significant risk given summer temperatures and the slab’s thickness. Our team solved these challenges through detailed pre-pour planning, placement sequencing, and logistics that controlled temperatures and ensured consistent finishing which delivered a slab that met performance and tolerance requirements without compromising schedule.
