Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers’ Concrete group completed three projects at the Brandenburg Nucor facility: Water treatment structures, heat treat line, and the site’s roadway paving package. The water treatment project covered base mats, walls, and piers, while the heat treat line included a series of major foundations with precision anchor bolt and embed installation. The roadway paving project delivered a loop road leading up to the site scales.
Unique Challenges
Each of the three projects brought its own demands. At the water treatment facility, the height of several walls made the pours more difficult, and numerous embeds had to be installed precisely within them. The heat treat line combined difficult foundations, tight anchor bolt and embed tolerances, and a compressed schedule that required 120 teammates on this project at its peak. Roadway paving landed during the height of construction activity, so every pour took place at night and required major coordination with other trades.
