Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers' Industrial group was contracted to relocate and install heavy process equipment as part of an ongoing year-long plant expansion and remodel, with a concrete scope that included three 5' x 13' slab recesses for tables. Our team began by installing a brand-new production line, including one 300-ton press and two 80-ton presses, then moved on to breaking down two existing lines and relocating that equipment, including craning out and re-erecting a 300-ton press and trucking four 80-ton presses into place using a Versa Lift. Additional equipment throughout the facility, including brakes, shears, and Gorbel cranes weighing up to 40,000 pounds, was relocated using a four-leg gantry system, a 250-ton crane, and equipment skates. The work continues in phases as the client's expansion progresses, with our team sequencing each move around active production.
Unique Challenges
Every move on this project has had to happen around a fully operational plant, often through entrances never built for equipment this size and in tight areas that left little margin for error. Specialized equipment like the 220-ton gantry system is in high demand and gets shuttled between job sites, so our team has had to plan lifts around its availability while also adjusting to weather delays and a schedule that keeps shifting. Wayne Brothers has kept the same core operators and crew on this project from the start, and that continuity has been the difference maker: a team that knows the client, knows the plant, and knows how to keep dozens of moving parts pointed in the same direction is what has kept this project on schedule.
