Scope of Work
Wayne Brothers' Industrial group was awarded the millwright scope for Ash-Tek's project in partnership with Dominion Energy. Our team lifted two rotary kiln dryers weighing 150 tons each, along with the raw material feed system, including screw conveyors, hoppers, discharge gates, rotary valves, and belt conveyors. Scope also included the support structures for all associated machinery and equipment, plus a complete dust collection system of filter units, blowers, ducting, exhaust stacks, valving, and rotary airlocks.
Unique Challenges
With no OEM representatives on site until commissioning, our team drove equipment installation using field experience and the manufacturer's drawing packages, supported by the owner's engineer. The work demanded resourcefulness on several fronts: numerous fabrication errors required substantial field modification of the structural steel supporting the equipment, and the footprint grew tight once the primary components were set. The perimeters of the equipment pads fell outside the concrete package and were left unpaved, so wet weather turned ground conditions difficult for mobile equipment. Our crews adjusted methods and sequencing to keep installation moving through each of these constraints.
