We were awarded the grading, shoring and concrete packages on the BB&T Ballpark in downtown Charlotte. Using GPS site models and automated machine control, WBI’s Civil & Infrastructure was onsite for over a year in order to coordinate with CDOT, NCDOT, Charmeck Utilties, various utility owners and the Core Group, to complete the future home of the Charlotte Knights Baseball Team.
Since beginning this project, WBI’s Civil & Infrastructure Group hauled over 120,000 cubic yards of dirt (8,000 of which were contaminated and hauled to an approved site). They moved over 30,000 cubic yards of site for mass fill and wall backfill. Over 3,000 linear feet of storm drain has been laid. WBI has completed the road widening of 4th Street, as well as the road work on Graham and Mint Street. In addition, they demolished and removed 3rd Street along with the associated utilities, and diverted traffic onto 4th Street.
The WBI’s Core Group completed all of the concrete for the project including footings, foundation walls, bleachers and concrete paving. They completed the walls and slab-on-grade for the service building and dugout suites. They also completed the outfield walls, placement of the bleachers and the slab-on-metal-deck. Weather effected several of the construction activities, but WBI worked hard to stay on schedule.
